With a little bit of help from Chrisopher Elliott, the story (& a link to the video :) ) is finally in the real mainstream media ...

Washington Post: The Navigator: TSA body scanners’ apparent flaw raises airport security concerns

The article also cites the usual predictable drivel from a TSA spokeshole:

I just can't think of a kinder way to put this, Greg Soule: You're a blithering idiot. When someone TWICE smuggles through a container large enough to hold 2.5 times a hazardous amount of PETN (not to mention the guns that have been repeatedly smuggled through by TSA's own testers), there is only one conclusion that can be reached: Your scanners are worthless, and each and every one of your so-called "layers" of security are worthless. When it's possible to smuggle explosives and guns onto planes, your agency has FAILED. Period. Stop. End of story.

Let me see if I can understand this spokeshole logic.

So, Greg Soule is dismayed that exposing a serious detection flaw in TSA's latest whizbang technology isn't "fair".

Let me tell you something, :pumpkin:, life ain't fair. When I've complained to TSA about the invasive, barbaric, and flawed nature of these machines I've been told, "Tough rocks, kid. It's for your safety.

Well, Greg, let me put it to you this way: you've made air travel considerably less safe. That the Washington Post now recognizes it, I'm glad we can all finally talk about what an incredibly stupid eff up you all are.

So to veer a bit OT, is the old guy in the photo that accompanies the WaPo article standing there in the surrender position with his shoe, jacket and hat on as a result of the TSA's new policies for old folk?

Yup, which means he can't honestly be cleared. When a real 80-year-old terrorist comes along w/ a snubbie or compact 9 mm or .40 behind his belt buckle and a blade in his shoe, they'll never know.

Just don't do it by groping him. I hear he don't roll like that.

Chris has a regular column in the Washington Post. He's been writing about the TSA there, as he has on his own blog, for years. Guess who's been putting pressure on the Post to get rid of him?

the MSM is basically state/power-elites-run. If anti-TSA stuff emerges there, that indicates a real division amongst the powers about what TSA is doing.
