Figures are in the ballpark with the Hamburg trials ...

Sydney Morning Herald: Almost half set off alarms in airport body scanner trial

And does any of this sound familiar?

Almost the whole world is going nuts. Why do these countries copy the worst aspects/policies of the U.S??

    (I know, I know -- $$$.)

Sadly, I will not be returning to Australia if they go through with this, which is unfortunate because I am 25% Aussie.

At least four of my ancestors were convicts given "transportation" to Australia in the 1820's. By the 1870's their offspring were squatting (that's Australian for homesteading) in the Young, NSW, area but many of the next generation migrated back to the cities, including my great grandparents. My grandmother, born & raised in Sydney, met & married my grandfather when the USS California visited Sydney on its "Good Will Tour" in 1925.

In 1960-61 one of my Australian cousins spent the better part of a year living with us in Norway, where my father worked in NATO's AFNORTH command bunker. Over the years my surviving relatives lost track of her (didn't even remember her maiden or married names), so in early 2005 I began researching our family history in earnest to find her. It took about three months, but we did reconnect, and we have since visited Australia four times, not only catching up with Pat in Sydney but also sojourning to Young & Hobart. In 2008, I spent two days spinning microfilms in the Tasmania state archives, locating and printing dozens of pages of records on my two 3xgreat-grandparents who were transported as convicts to Hobart, and eventually were given their tickets of leave (we call it parole) and headed north.

I feel like a part of me is being cut off from myself, but I will not willingly submit to being stripsearched. :(

Australia is one of those places I've also always wanted to see. But since my flying days are over, thanks to my own country, I wouldn't have been able to see it anyway.

Wonder if its population will roll over and play dead like the sheeple over here.
