In the aftermath of the terrible killing of the young child in NYC, http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/14/n...yn-killing-of-leiby-kletzky.html?ref=nyregion several NYC councilmembers are proposing legislation that would give homeowners a $500 annual rebate on their taxes for installing outside security cameras. Paranoia at it's best, IMO. Yes, security cameras helped to catch the killer and get him off the street but they certainly didn't save the little boy. Just like they didn't stop the subway bombings in London. I am so sick and tired of government,s, local, state and national being our nanny. Just stop it and let people take responsibility for themselves!!!!!
This should be fairly easy to finance. For every 3 cameras rebated, they need to find one poor slob who's not watering his bees: CBS New York: Un-BEE-lievable: NYC Fines Man $2,000 For Not Watering His Hive His $2K will cover 3 cameras plus some program overhead.
Thanks for posting that, Mike. I'd seen the promos for it on the news last night, but never saw the actual segment.
