KRQE (Albuquerque, NM) : TSA coming up on 10th anniversary

Are they counting each & every bottle of water?

Guess so ... and drugs and cash and birds and lizards ...

Is Luis Casanova even dumber than Nico Melendez?

That is an insanely stupid number.

Let's take TSA at its word. They screen, on average 2 million passengers a day. Let's also give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that the items confiscated are actual, credible threats to aircraft like bombs big enough to bring an airliner down, not just a panty bomb. It's fair to even include the guns and even chainsaws they claim are found in carry-on baggage. Fine, I'll give them that. I'll also give them that they've been at this gig a full 8 years, just so the numbers play in their favor.

How many passengers is that? Why, it's 5,840,000,000. On those people they've found 50 million "threats to aircraft." OK, stop laughing.

Do you know what their success rate is in all this time? It's 0.8%. That's right, it's not even one percent.

We are told that the too-invasive, sexual gropefest "pat down" is "no big deal" because it "only" happens to "less than 3%" of travelers.

OK, then these weapons TSA claims to have found are even less of a problem.

Assuming that every single one of those 50 million items found were actually being carried by someone intent on doing harm, and that's being generous, and that no water bottles are included in that number, 99.2% of the traveling public is being abused over, literally, nothing.

It's a number so close to being zero that if the same mathematical formula were applied to a gross annual income of $30,000 would amount to a Starbucks Grande Caramel Macchiato a week.
