I don't have a forum for stupidity, so I guess this goes here .... ABC Local Los Angeles: Burbank Woman Detained For More Than 10 Hours For Painting Nails On Southwest Flight I really liked Southwest, but they do have a few whacked out FA's that should be given brooms & sent on their way.
Have people in the airline industry all lost their minds? http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2012...hours-for-painting-nails-on-southwest-flight/
Seems excessive to me - although I'm not a big fan of people using nail polish in such close quarters. And I say this as someone who loves nail polish. It's one of my favorite accessories.
I started to do my nails once on a flight, many years ago (can't be bothered with manicures anymore), but immediately realized how obnoxious the smell of the stuff was in such a confined space. So I stopped and put it away. Still, this story is insane. Like this country. I'm dreading the day when/if something happens in a non-aviation-related venue. Train? Bus? Subway? Bridge? Boat? Highway? Dear god, if things are hysterical and irrational now, just wait. I mean, read some of the comments over there. People saying she was lucky she wasn't slammed to the ground and handcuffed??! Though there are a few who get it, comparing the FA to the TSA.
I think the majority of the comments I read believe what happened to this woman was caused by an over-the-top reaction on the part of the "stew." Yes, a couple of comments were off the wall w/r/t what should have happened to her but for the most part the passenger got some sympathy for the retribution heaped upon her.
