The "friendly fascism" seems like an attempt to be able to claim moral high-ground. As though a personable demeanor somehow excuses representing, aiding and abetting a government organization that sexually assaults travelers as part of its proper procedure (PSA: Remember, when Curtis Robert Burns, a.k.a. Blogger Bob says that "proper procedures were followed," that means that someone was sexually assaulted and those actions which all of us with functional consciences can see are deplorably wrong, TSA considers proper and necessary). Then TSA can try to call us the big meanies for unapologetically shining a harsh light on those actions they'd prefer to sweep under the rug and serving up duly-deserved criticism.

"But we're so polite and friendly and even FUNNY about it! We're hip, we're cool, we're with-it, why are those TUGgers so mean?"

In their eyes, (Friendliness + humor) + (adherence to THEIR idea of right vs. wrong) = morally unassailable.

    Pity reality begs to differ.
