    That's a reasonable risk.

    On the other hand, I would hope that Amtrak management realizes that TSA is of the major causes driving their record riderships and hires/appoints accordingly. If they don't, then Amtrak ridership will level off or drop and automobile traffic (& casualties) will increase.

    A good org usually starts at the top, and hires accordingly. I suspect we'll get someone who acts a lot like O'Connor. As Mike says, they have a lot of incentive to resist the perversion that is the TSA and DHS.

    I disagree. Remember, Amtrak is a political creature, and AFS is "in" - Chief O'Connor was a bit old school in that regard.

    And being a gov't agency, they really won't care all that much if they drive some of the people away.
