Another fine example of the TSA at work [newspaper editor harassed for napkins left in pocket]

  2. Wow. Was it me, or was that a story of clerks getting totally bent out of shape because somebody had napkins in their pockets? It's was a little hard to keep track when things went pear-shaped so quickly.

    And in all of their haughtiness, they missed a knife. Ha.

    Gotta "respect that authoritigh!" It's sad these clerks are stupid and petty. They must be dumber than stumps, or they wouldn't be so pathetically insecure.

    I will say it even if no one else will: (expletive deleted) the other passengers. They are part of the problem. They deserve as much scorn as the TSA. As usual, they're more concerned with not being -- gasp! -- inconvenienced, than they are that a fellow passenger is being bullied or abused. These people deserve what they (expletive deleted) get. I hope every one of them who displayed impatience or "hostility" someday gets the grope of a lifetime.

    Many of us have experienced this. Michael Dresser of the Baltimore Sun defended it.

    There aren't enough expletives in the English language for what I want to say about these people.

    I agree 100% Lisa. Even if you are not the one being bullied, by being silent you are giving the bullies permission to continue and maybe next time it will be you. We tell our school aged children to speak up if they see one of their classmates being abused or bullied by another student and yet how many adults have the courage to do that in an airport security scenario? People don't want to get involved, don't want to be inconvenienced, don't want to be singled out. Well, then, this is what you get for doing nothing!

    Should I be forced by circumstance to traverse a TSA checkpoint at any time in the future, I shall be sure to show as much respect and deference to the TSA as they are due.

    (Note that I carefully did NOT say " they feel they are due.")

    I had sent an email to this newspaper editor, Dick Hughes, back in May. I'd forgotten. He just responded a few minutes ago:
    His optimism is touching. But he clearly still doesn't understand how the TSA works.
