Wow, how delightful to have found this forum. I travel regularly, but not frequently and I doubt that there is anyone who loathes the TSA as much as I do. I'm a small business owner and a hard-core libertarian, and I have ZERO patience for people who are too ignorant to realize that the TSA's policies are an egregious violation of our constitutional rights. I'm' one of those fruitcakes who wonders how far we Americans will allow ourselves to be pushed before we actually take a stand and do something. The folks who say, "Well, just don't fly," make me NUTS. The TSA will soon be coming to buses and trains and even the highways. Anyway - that's enough for an introduction. I write books and I have to fly semi-regularly in order to sell those books. I really do think the TSA is one of the most heinous government agencies to come down the pike in a long, long time. Rosemary
Welcome, Rosemary. Glad to have you. You'll find that we're all over the political map at TUG, but all united in our loathing of this criminal, abusive agency and determined to fight it. We respect the rights that we supposedly still have, even as we're watching them evaporate before our eyes. And even as millions of our fellow citizens are too clueless to give a damn. And wow, I see by your avatar that you're Rosemary Thornton. I read about you in Style 1900 (or maybe it was Old House Journal?). In any case, I'm a huge historic preservation and Arts & Crafts fan. Let me know when you're coming by Baltimore or Washington some day; would love to meet you.
Thanks for the warm welcome. You know, this TSA thing has far reaching ramifications. My husband boarded the train today for New York. Back in the day, he used to fly, but now he (like so many of us) just despises flying. I think the TSA is the best thing that ever happened to Amtrak.
CelticWhisper, I *love* your "challenge accepted" graphic. Very, very cute. And I do *hope* there's someone how loathes the TSA more than I do. The very thought warms the cockles of my heart!
You're lucky your husband understands, Rosemary. Many of us don't have sympathetic family and friends on this issue. (But as our fearless leader, Mike, likes to say, "One grope at a time. One grope at a time."
Hi Rosemary! >I really do think the TSA is one of the most heinous government agencies to come down the pike in a long, long time. I absolutely agree.
Hi Rosemary! We have two things in common: anti-TSA advocacy and Arts & Crafts. I live in a 1926 Chicago "bungaloid" (bungalow style but with a full second floor and attic) and love the Arts & Crafts aesthetic!
Welcome aboard! A few years back someone mentioned they thought they had a Sears home, and it was probably one of your sites where I looked up some info to determine if it was or not (I don't think it was). Small world.
N965VJ, you can always send me a photo, and I can help with identification. For 10 years, Sears Homes were my whole world, and I traveled throughout the country doing research. That's how I first got crossways of the TSA - all that traveling!
Welcome! Its great to have folks with professional writing skills in the camp. Looking forward to your comments and insights.
