Any updates on Andrea Abbott and/or Yukari Miyamae?

Ms. Abbott's case was supposed to go to a grand jury, was it not? And Ms. Miyamae was "awaiting" charges by the Phoenix prosecutor, if I remember correctly.

I've not seen any updates on either case.

My theory is that when police or the TSA get caught abusing citizens they terrorize their victims into silence by holding a bunch of "pending charges" over their heads for months, or even years.

I've seen a lot of this in police abuse cases, and both Ms Abbot and Ms Miyamae were abused by local police as well as the TSA. It would fit the current pattern of official malfeasance if these ladies had threatened "charges" and "fines" looming over them.

If a case was filed seems there would be a record.

Can our staff lawyer give us a steer on how to research legal filings?

I'm not a staffer, but I'll put in my two cents anyway. :) You can go through Pacer, but it's not free.

I did a quick scan of Miyamae's case just using google, and it seems that she's waiting to hear if the city is going to charge her with a misdemeanor. If they haven't filed anything yet, there won't be a record.

Here's what I was looking at in Miyamae's case, as of Sept. 4th:

The City of Phoenix decided not to charge Miyamae with sexual assault but has not yet made a decision about whether to charge her with a misdemeanor.

    I didn't check PACER.

We posted a thread about this a few weeks ago. Stacey Armato is suing.

    I must've missed that one.

Good to know. I hope she wins.
