Well of course he doesn't have explosives, not with our crack TSA and their many layers of security keeping us safe...she said sarcastically.

I guess this shows how much faith the airlines and government have in the TSA doing their job... ... ...

"Homeland Security said an information was received a person was trying to smuggle an explosive liquid into Texas."

Conveniently days after the gate liquid testing has hit the news again.

So what's the over/under on ever seeing the news of prosecution for the bogus phone call?

From the initial linked article, which has been updated:

Anything for safety, right folks? I mean, just because you're stunned, it is important for you to cooperate and do whatever you are told to do since you might have a thing that goes boom!

I hope more and more "stunned" people encounter this nonsense. Of course, if the junkatrons worked as well as we are told they do, then there's no need for such an exercise.

I wonder if he was strip searched. Somehow, given the Hebshi stuff hitting the fan and the cops getting awfully lucky not to be sued, I think not.

ABC Local WLS: Source: Ex-girlfriend behind Philadelphia Airport threat hoax

Philadelphia police and FBI authorities say it was a "pretty nasty trick" by a man's ex-girlfriend that resulted in a scare for passengers aboard a plane out of Philadelphia Thursday morning. It was approximately 7:30 a.m. Thursday when a call was received at Philadelphia police airport headquarters from a person stating that a specific individual would attempt to get past TSA and board a flight to somewhere in Texas with a dangerous and hazardous substance ... The target of the hoax was released from custody and will not be facing any charges. Authorities would not comment on who they think may have been behind the threat, but did say that if caught that person will face federal charges ... Sources tell WPVI that it was a former girlfriend of the man behind the prank call.

NBC News: US Airways security threat hoax was 'pretty nasty trick' played on passenger, officials say

The man taken off the jet and questioned was the victim of a hoax, apparently performed because today is his birthday, officials said. It's still not clear whether a social media posting was involved. But a telephone call was placed to Philadelphia police, claiming that he was trying to "smuggle" something to Texas ... The cost of the hoax will cost US Airways "upwards of tens of thousands of dollars in direct and indirect costs," the airline said. Sixty-nine passengers were on the Airbus A319, and were being rebooked on other flights.

Funny: I can say the same exact stuff about the dumbass TSOs and their equipment that caused the several recent terminal dumps at Newark. Or about the flight attendant whose paranoia that the unclaimed camera on her flight was a bomb led to the plane being turned around a quarter of the way to Europe.

Why is none of that criminal?

And so See Something, Snitch rears its ugly head.

Turns out an ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend made the call. I hope there are many, many more incidents like this one in the coming years.

And so, kids, lets remember that the "if you have nothing to hide" brigade is once again wrong. Shell (the dude on the plane) really had nothing to hide. And yet he got the full Salem Witch Trial treatment. I know I'm proud to be an Amerikan today.
