umm there are none that Im aware of, be let me dig. 10-15x zooms are common on consumer level digital cameras, but to get out to that range you would be relying on digtal zoom or cropping down the image. In any case the image quality isnt going to be that great. if i were to need 800mm of zoom this is the lens i would be using (would have to rent these as these arent in my normal kit) http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_800mm_f_5_6l_is_usm or (with a 2x teleconvertor) http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_400mm_f_2_8l_is_ii_usm and both would be on a tripod. let me check and Ill get back to the thread
well found a few in a search on DPreview.com Link short list of consumer level cameras that reach out to 800mm (according to specs/dpreview) Canon PowerShot SX40 HS Olympus SP-810 UZ Nikon Coolpix P500 Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V
Many thank you's!!!! I had no idea how to search for these cameras. The prices are in line with what was mentioned to me. Perhaps I'll have to buy myself a Christmas present, early.
Dpreview.com is one of the best information, news and review sites on the internet when it comes to digital photography. I have used that site and its forums for years. Glad to be of service.
Most certainly - of the birds on my feeders. However, should I ever need to go to an airport, with such a camera I could stand a distance from a checkpoint and still get good closeup shots without being obvious.
