Can anyone confirm if the TSA is using body scanners today?

...the more recent, the better, as I'd imagine it took a little time to get the word down to FSD -> TSM -> STSO. :)

I just went through T2 at ORD (for the second of the only two work air trips I'll take this year), and no BKSX ... but the whole reason I use T2 to get toT3 is no scanners.

When I walked past the T3 security all BKSX were in full operation.

Saw them in use at PIT at about noon. Not as many lanes as usual, but then I am not usually there at noon.

If they stopped using them, then it would be an admission that Jon was right.

Oh, wait a second: he is...

What might be more telling is if the procedure is changed over the next few days.

    That ain't gonna happen.

I tend to agree, Lisa. If they change procedures, it's a blatant admission that their machines can't do the job and that Jon was correct.

If they don't change, then they can keep up their fantasy while people stroll through WBI with all sorts of things concealed on the sides of their bodies. I would think something taped to the inside aspect of a thigh could sail right on through.

I also agree with Lisa and Doober.
This whole thing is a farce so why stop now?

If they really were concern with security, there wouldn't magic boxes full of "dangerous liquids, gels and aerosol" wouldn't be right next to lines of passengers. Shipping cargos would be fully searched, and so forth.

I actually think, though, that it's worse than that.

They won't change not because it's an admission of ineffectiveness of this whizbang technology.

They aren't going to change procedure because deep down inside, they really, really believe that they actually are seeing things like what was displayed in this video, and that this didn't really happen.

We have to ask ourselves (and I know that those of us already here know the answer): are these the people we want in charge of security? I certainly don't. They're morons. Complete and total morons.

Except that none of those other layers caught it. Not one.

    TSA is an abject failure.

But you know what ..... the reason why people are 'okay' (and by 'okay' I mean only grudging acceptance) with the scanners is because they think they work an that we are getting a safety benefit from them. Now that this has gone viral many people can see what they may have only suspected - the machines aren't making them safe.

Maybe this is the beginning of the end for the machines.

    I hope so.

If true, I'm taking Jon to dinner!

If Jon is the reason for retiring these awful machines, then the party planner in me will organize a TUG celebration!

You have more faith in your fellow man/woman than I do.

Faith is more powerful than reason. Denial is more powerful than reason.

Tell me when and where, and I'll be on the first train inbound.

If Jon is successful, you can fly!

Hah, when I read the "you can fly", my brain turned it into the song from the Disney Peter Pan movie :) ... And that's exactly how elated I'll feel WHEN we defeat these scanners and gropes.
