Eeek. Unfortunately, that PressTV article is badly written and overwrought. It did, however, point me to the NYT article about the college student who was jailed for 2 nights because she was walking in Riverside Park, committing the unpardonable sin of admiring the river after the park had "closed." The cop demanded her ID. She didn't have it; had left it in her hotel room. So he booked her. She's an upper-middle-class white girl. As we know, this happens to poor black and Hispanic men in New York all the time. And poor whites in more rural areas as well. Basically, if you're poor, homeless, or in some other way powerless, the police have carte blanche to screw with you.
