Kansas City Star: Commentary: TSA needs to check kids too by coward Barry Saunders http://www.kansascity.com/2012/05/04/3584420/commentary-tsa-needs-to-check.html Title tells you everything. He also praises Blogger Bob. Kill it in the comments. I did.
I posted a short note but for people with their heads firmly implanted up their (expletive deleted) it won't do any good.
The comments are fantastic! FYI - this is a reprint from a Raleigh/Durham, NC paper, if I recollect correctly. I'll try and dig it up later...
Oh, yeah? "Frank" over at Charlie Leocha's site (Consumer Travel, another thread) is buying it. Big time. And there are millions more like him.
Yeah, it ran about a week to ten days ago before the rash of child gropings and drug smuggling. The propaganda ministers probably didn't want it to go to waste. What a piece of garbage. What kind of moron would actually think it was a good idea to mix a story of a strip club visit with a report of a child being groped?
I'm trying to come up with another angle when I post a comment to those people who are convinced the TSA is actually keeping planes from being blown up in the sky because it hasn't happened. I got to thinking about drunk driving. In 2009 there were 10,839 fatalities caused by drunk drivers. In 2009 there were zero planes blown out of the sky. However, every passenger getting on a plane is considered a possible terrorist by the TSA and has to submit to screening. Considering there are more people killed by drunk drivers than there are killed by terrorists on a plane why isn't every driver considered a possible drunk driver and why isn't there a law that every car has to have an interlock system installed? If the TSA's primary concern is safety, a car is a mode of transportation and since flying isn't considered a "right" neither should driving a car. We know terrorists aren't blowing up planes left and right - but every 50 minutes someone is killed by a drunk driver. Am I on the right track here or not? Constructive criticism is welcome before I actually use this in a comment.
nobody with any sense, I meant. I don't count those with IQs lower than an amoeba. All you need is around 30%. With 30% committed, you cannot be defeated.
Monica, by all means, have at it. It's logical, of course, but logic doesn't matter. I've made similar arguments umpteen times. It doesn't matter. People who are thinking (if you can call it that) with the lizard part of their brains aren't going to be swayed by logic. As I've said before, I still believe in and use risk assessment, statistical analysis, historical fact, logic, and all forms of empirical evidence in my arguments, just for my own satisfaction. But I'm under no illusion that I'm changing anybody's mind. (See, for example, this essay -- it's chock full of rational argument, and none of it matters: TSA News Blog: History Repeats Itself With TSA's Strip Search Tactics )
Monica I have used that logic, in the past and its been slightly helpful. I add that since 9/11/01 deaths on highways have increased and many reasons cited is TSA. If you look in my past posts you will see the statistics. http://travelunderground.org/index.php?threads/tsa-kills-520-people-a-year.1192 . It was shortly after that cupcake decided to take his ball and go home... he couldnt handle the truth, that or scared he cowardly words might have repercussions This thread on the other place pretty much says the same thing. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/prac...-little-info-anything-keep-us-safe-crowd.html
This is the same mentality that had Jews walking into the gas chambers chivvied by guards with inoperable weapons.
