I think the headline should read "When I Don't Reply Immediately," but I'll let it go.

I love the excuse about how the OP shouldn't have taken as long as he did to reply to TSA because, after all, they have a backlog of complaints and he doesn't. Poor, poor, downtrodden, put-upon TSA.

Several of you at TUG have had experience filing claims. Hope you'll leave comments. I would, but I've never filed a claim with them and it'd just be another dyspeptic comment anyway, and I'm having more fun right now choosing colors for our screened-in porch.

I'll just re-post this article about people being robbed and screwed:

TSA receiving fewer theft claims, rejecting more

I really wonder what kind of vermin, cockroaches, and other slimy things would crawl out of TSA if the light of day was brought to bear on the agency?

Congress did the American people a serious disservice when they created TSA.

In fairness (to us - TSA doesn't deserve fairness at this point), we've been working to shine at least some of that light-of-day on TSA and we've seen what crawls out - thieves, child pornographers and prostitution traders.

In other words, about what we all expected.

In the midst of my own fiasco w/ TSA, my response must be received within 30 days.

At minimum they take 60 days for themselves. At minimum.

My favorite was working with their FOIA office. Same 30-day requirement for me, 7 months for them to tell me they had what I was requesting, but that they just weren't going to release it.

Filed four claims since TSA showed up and I'm 0-4. The problem is that the newbies don't know not to pack valuable items in checked baggage. They think this stuff is like it is in the movies, then they're shocked when something like this happens.

And they think we're just alarmists.
