My Fox NY: Theft of copper wire causes LIRR delay (Aug 23 2013)

The Long Island Rail Road says service is back on track after delays caused by vandals who stripped copper wire from an electrical connection in Queens. LIRR spokesman Sal Arena says 43 trains were delayed Friday morning by up to 20 minutes. He said the main cause was the theft of copper wire from a rail connection between the Woodside and Sunnyside stations. The vandalism was discovered at 5:30 a.m. Arena says about 144 feet of copper were stolen.
