Flew MSP-MCI today and it was a zoo, spring break I'm sure. Anyway, AIT was the primary screening at every checkpoint that has it and I observed 99.9% compliance. Myself and one other woman opted out during the time I spent observing. I was sickened by all the happy bah, bah, bah's -

This is why I have no hope.

Ugh, it was at MSP that I noticed a guy literally dance his way into a NoS, and a woman step out of one proclaiming, "Wow! That was fun!" There is something about the water in MSP that makes some people lame.

Last I was there, 2 checkpoints were completely NoS-free. Why would you subject yourself to a NoS checkpoint when they can be avoided entirely?

The Sky Priority line was ridiculously long - longer than any I've ever seen so I took a moment to scope out the other options...the shortest lines were closest to the C concourse and I didn't have the time to go back and wait in the SP line so knowing I would opt out...I opted out. Still irritates me though thinking about the sheep and their compliance.

Hey mon! If the other MSP fliers could, they would pelt me with tomatoes each time I op out. Not all of us MSP-ers here drink the water.:)

I know, guys! But seriously, every time I transit MSP (well, used to since I've stopped flying entirely much to the chagrin of Mrs. Barbell) I scheduled my flights for late morning - early afternoon when there was the most traffic. Then I'd head to either Checkpoint 1 or 5 where there is NO NoS.

The opt out fondling is just too much for me. I avoid it at all costs, including driving an hour and a half in a one-way car rental to a NoS free (for now) airport where I take a flight that literally flies over my house as it lands at an airport 15 minutes from my home so I can connect on. Alas, now that NoS is far more prevalent I'm just done flying. I'm done. In spite of the fact I fly for free, I've taken to renting a car and driving 6 hours to conferences I have to attend, and this summer I'm paying $600 r/t to take the train.

And here's another thing: how is standing in a plastic tube with your arms raised in the surrender position fun? Fun? FUN?!?!?! GMAFB.

If the sheep offend thee, make mutton.

The stuff that comes out of the swamps around here is pretty bad. You should smell the :trash: that comes out of a hand pump by Lake of the Isles. I would not underestimate its potential hazardous properties.

I just avoid airports & flying, period. As a bonus, my credit card balances are falling faster than prices at Wally World.

  10. Was there much patdown action after they went through? If not, I'm going to be an optimist and suggest that maybe a few of them were smuggling metal items through in side pockets.

Nope - only opt outs got the gropes - I stood there waiting for the privilege for several minutes facing the NoS and everyone waltz right through and on their way, some even thanking their offenders...gawd all mighty
