Your tax dollars at work!
Earmark Puts $17,000 Pans on Army Craft
The $800 (it was really $600 in the news reports) toilet seat story was reported badly. The item called a toilet seat was the entire moulded enclosure for the toilet container for the P-3C aircraft. This moulded enclosure did have a toilet seat as part of the assembly but the $600.00 covered the complete item. The assembly had hinges, latches and other hardware. The cost of $600 was not out of line.
Can't speak to the drip pans but even $2500 seems excessive. A couple of hundred a pop would be more in line. One sheet of aluminium fold the ends weld up and there you go.
