Entrapment much? Bullying by Ottumwa's finest, through and on top of that by her classmates, but well worth it for those precious precious crime reports.:td:
The Prosecutor will probably keep the charge just to cover their (expletive deleted) on revealing her identity.

Ottumwa needs some letters to the editor and outside agitation sent their way...

No, apparently not. Furthermore, if police asked my teenage daughter to help them entrap a vulnerable, bullied teen, I'd explore charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. I think it's very, very sadistic to involve Emily Six's peers in a plot to legally entrap her. This is taking bullying to a whole new level. I'd be very upset at the idea that an adult authority figure would be using my teen to commit such despicable acts. What if Emily Six committed suicide due to her overwhelming isolation? Emily Six's social isolation was exacerbated by the complicity of the very authorities who who should have been trying to protect her.

The juvenile court operates less publicly than adult court. Easier to sweep things under the rug there. Hopefully, this will result in a short job tenure for that dumbsh*t chief.

This country has gone mad. Look for more of this kind of thing to happen as the "Terror!" hysteria continues to peak. And with the NDAA, it's off to jail we go, when we get out nobody will know.

Have you folks ever heard of Columbine? Teenagers ARE capable of getting their hands on guns, and they WILL kill people. It's happend before. Many, many, many times.

And if the police hadn't intervened, and God forbid, this group did harm or kill their peers, I can only imagine what you'd be saying about the police then.

Columbine happened once. Stupid over-reactions like this one are happening with apparently increasing frequency. Please don't point at Columbine to justify stupidity. Just do the normal police work please, first, before just throwing someone in jail indefinitely. Watch the kid, tap her phones (if you can get a warrant), see just what resources the kid has or is trying to acquire, etc. What we have instead is a quite lazy @ss knee jerk response "out of abundance of caution" which has totally destroyed a sixteen year-old kid.

Thank you for dialing in all the way from beautiful downtown Ottumwa, Iowa, to state the obvious.

Would you mind telling us what the schools and community in Ottumwa do to counter bullying? What effort is made to reach out to students who feel alienated & isolated from their peers?

Reportedly there were a total of eight of these hardened killers loose in your community. Big Chief Jim "Deputy Dog" Clark managed to bag one of them (a special ed student) shortly before Christmas. It took another five weeks to nail the next two, guess they forgot to pose in front of your Homeland Security cameras wearing"arrest me" placards so D.D. had to find them the hard way. Assuming this is a linear progression, you'll probably have last one locked up just in time for your May Day Parade. No doubt that will be quite a celebration!

The harm done to this 16 year old girl over this lunacy is a disgrace to your community. The vile way "authorities" conspired with bullying teens to entrap this isolated and tormented teen is horrible beyond words.

I hope her family sues your community blind and toothless for the torment you've visited on this child.

Umm yeah, Troll are you in constant fear or the boogie man or your shadow? Columbine was a one off event that was the result of bullying that was not stopped by school officials. This poor girl was entrapped by deputy dog and his posse of misfits, who are trying to justify there sorry existance and grant dollars by attempting to make a example of this girl. I hope it back fires in there face and there is a 8-9 figure settlement in the end for malicious prosecution, harassment, entrapment and so on.

hmm interesting whitepages.com entries in Ottumwa for names that match that screenname...hmm

"Columbine", "9/11" - the rallying cries of the fearful.

Or in this case, to let local police use it to show their community that they are "on the ball" and protecting them, to preserve their budgets in times of economic stress, and to justify their own pay and benefits. This incident is all part of this and it is disgusting to see them sacrifice a young kid to protect their own jobs and bennies. Anything for applause, anything.

One can not help but notice the difference between the handling of Emily Six's case and the school shooter in Ohio.

Jim Clark needs to take a lesson from the way this case is being handle. Of course, he's too much of an a**hat to do so.

Emily Kay Six, it turns out, has been free for a week:

Journal Express: Ottumwa teen to be court supervised up to a year

The judge must not have considered her to be much of a threat. ^

With regard to Ottumwa vs. Ohio, I'm not sure what your point is. Both schools have bullying problems, neither would appear to be dealing with them effectively. The consequences in the Ohio example were disastrous.

Interesting that the media outlet (Heartland Connection/KTVO) that had previously provided all the coverage of Emily's arrest, mug shot, etc., chose to ignore this development.

Pre-crime? What the (expletive deleted) is that? It sounds an awful lot like "not a crime" to me. A crime is an unlawful act. There's no such thing as a pre-crime or a quasi-crime or an almost-a-crime. It's either a crime or it's legal. Furthermore, there's no such thing, in the United States, as an ex-post-facto crime. In order for an act to be a crime, there must be a law, which the act violates, already in existence when the act is performed.

It was just a year ago today (well, yesterday, but I'm still up so it seems like today) that Emily Kay Six was busted for terrorizing the bejeepers out of Ottumwa's Police Chief Jim "Deputy Dog" Clark. Last we heard she was out of the juvenile lockup. Let's hope she's continuing to stay out of "trouble". :)
