At that rate will the inmates ever pay their "debt to society"? And where and how does the Board of Supervisors think the inmates are going to come up with the cash...:trash: it?:mad:

I suspect this will be in the courts right away and the prisoner rights group will successfully defeat these types of movements.

Stupid t*rds. You incarcerate these people then want to immunize yourselves from the consequences? I can just see it: you finish your sentence, then BAM into debtor's prison for not paying your hanoi hilton hotel bill...

Nothing like kicking people when they are down ... and keeping them down.

Exactly! I think that the general public views the prison system as punishment (which, frankly, it is), but I think that the main focus of the prison systems should be rehabilitation (which, frankly, it is not). Even when an inmate is paroled, the "punishment" continues disguised as rehabilitation. They are required to attend counseling, take an annual lie-detector test, and attend a drug/alcohol rehab program. All of which IMHO are useless and all of which are paid for by the parolee.

Lisa, you almost owed me a new 'puter - coffee spewed when I read this. My sister lives in Riverside County - this just might warrant a phone call to her to get her take.
