Video. Ad in first 30 seconds.

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) spoke with Bob Schieffer on the controversial TSA airport screening process claiming the number one priority is keeping us safe but number two must honor our personal privacy.

    And that's why we're screwed.

"Keeping us safe" is an elusive concept, constantly expanding, constantly receding.

Exactly. These idiots still don't understand that in the US, safety is never, EVER the #1 priority. EVER. The first priority is always the liberty and rights of the people, and safety is to be provided only insofar as it does not interfere with that liberty.

These clowns have decided on that priority, not us. They did not place this set of protocols out there for the people to comment on or help shape, which is required for legitimate governance. Instead they rammed it down our throats by force. This breaks the bonds between leaders and the people and reduces our situation to that of masters and slaves.

The controlling principle always wins, always, to the detriment of lesser principles or ends. The only way to reach a valid solution to this problem is to acknowledge that safety can be achieved only while respecting the limits imposed by the requirements of human decency, as expressed in the 4th amendment.
