Why is it again that flight attendants should receive minimal/no screening?

San Francisco Chronicle: Flight attendant arrested over gun at O'Hare

An American Airlines flight attendant has been arrested at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport after security screeners discovered a gun in her carry-on luggage ... A police statement identified her as Sheila Schultz, of Palatine, and said she faces felony and misdemeanor charges. She is scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.

I think the better question is why is anyone allowed to enter the sterile area without screening? If someone wanted to attack commercial air the easiest path would be an inside job.

    Or from the ground.

Throw it in the cart and straight to the hold.

This senior mama had 44 years. A lot of FAs at AA will have their seniority number go up when she gets fired, if she hasn't been already.

This makes for the third incident this year where a crew member was caught with a firearm in the sterile area. Going over the list I started, these incidents just keep chugging along at a sustained rate.

I thought flight crew still had to go through the WTMD and have their bags xrayed. Either I am totally wrong or TSA is missing weapons.

Flight attendant with gun = arrested, fired, jail time, etc.
TSA gröpensmurfen with gun = slap on the wrist.

"Some airports do. Some airports don't. Each airport is different."

I bet Sheila Schultz wishes she was a DL FA based in ATL, where they all bypass the checkpoint. She could've ditched the firearm in a garbage can next to the Coke machine on her first overnight.

    Oh, and this:

This little fact needs to be brought up in court as if TSA is going to act that callously and hipocritically then no one should be charged.
