I requested and just recieved the following document: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9--YQDJnysZbkdIbVBjcmlRZC1ESEN3QmlIQURzdw Feel free to add a copy of this memo to your camera bag.
Thank you very much for this Mark. I have it downloaded, and added into my folio behind the photographers rights sheet. Just need to laminate it this weekend.
None of which is any of their business when you are lawfully exercising your first amendment rights. Name + DOB + SSN = identity theft
Correct. There is no reason to give this information out when taking photos. Politely decline to give it to them.

And be prepared to be arrested for obstructing law enforcement. They may not have the right to the information, but you will get handcuffs and a ride to a holding cell. At which point your camera and film will be taken and placed in evidence. It gives the cops license to intimidate you while stroking their penis substitute.
Those lawsuits seem to be worth up to $20K, usually settled before trial. As I pointed out a while back, a creative photographer could get a decent income stream coming in if he didn't mind an occasional cracked skull or chipped tooth.
As I recall it cost MdTA nearly $2 million in the first case. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/editorial/bs-ed-mta-photography-20110602,0,6046710.story
Eventually they, the police, will eventually NOT learn! It will take some firings and loss of pensions to do that, and that is not going to happen. Otherwise, watch when you use your camera. There will be another "9/11 hero" looking to do his/her job.
