Here's some slightly more concrete evidence supporting the anecdotal evidence we saw earlier this week:

Pietra then equivocates on whether he would support that recommendation within the TSA, and says that they'll continue to use the existing backscatter machines. But it may be the case that they are slowly, quietly, removing the BKSX where the ATR-MMW have gone in.

Whether this will accompany a consistent change in machine use and gropes-frisks remains to be seen, but I think we can all expect that any changes will be furtive, in keeping with the random theme on which the TSA thrives. But all of these chinks in the armor may enable the police state to start rusting (how's that for a metaphor?).

And the only reason I won't elaborate on how offensive it is that Pietra characterizes Americans as "a Puritan lot" is that it's a lovely evening here in Chicago, and I want to go for a run. So I leave that to your collective eloquence.

So he didn't address the question of whether he got the job because he lacked a soul, or if it was removed during the hiring process?

    I am disappointed.

Sadly not many comments om this article yet.

Of course Pietra is a mindless drone, its a TSA requirement. He's also an PoS and probably one of BB's friends.

My guess is the privacy issue is a red herring and that AFGE is bringing pressure because of the x-ray problem. Anyone want to predict when the BKSX machines will be deemed "obsolete" and replaced with MMW?

This issue has nothing to do with being Puritan, whatever he thinks that means. Apparently the man confused this concept with being prudish. It's a 4th Amendment issue primarily. Nobody has a right to force me or my family to show ourselves naked to your baboons in blue shirts, Mr. Pietra. It is no more complicated than that.

Just out of curiosity, has Pietra ever been seen in public in broad daylight?

That's the final nail on the coffin for Romney. Even if Ron Paul drops out of the race, Romney will not get my vote.

Birds of a feather flock together. Romney, Chertoff and Hayden are vultures.
