Forbes: The TSA’s Grand Failure Of Imagination
Sorry, I'm not impressed.
We don't need TLV-style profiling (which is not scalable to what we have in the States), or ID checks against databases, as positive ID is nothing more than revenue protection for the airlines.
The TSA only needs to screen for weapons, explosives and incendiaries. This should be done with X-ray of bags, and screening all people entering the sterile area using walk though / hand held metal detection, Explosive Trace Detection / Explosive Trace Portals.
The author has strong credentials; would he have personal or professional gains if his idea of security is implemented?
