How overstaffed is TSA?

Found this announcement of promotions & new hires at RSW ... Three out of four strike me as unnecessary & wasteful. This airport only serves ~80 flights a day, about 200 pax to screen per hour, 4-5 lanes should do it if well run, plus screening & pilfering baggage.

News-Press: TSA makes changes in airport staff

Presumably there's also an Assistant FSD. Don't need 3 people at the top.

Why do they need anyone with the title "program analyst" at a medium-sized regional airport? They should simply be following instructions from HQ & getting on with the task.

This is just one announcement at one airport ... out of hundreds.

Could be a good thing if they can find a way for screeners to telecommute. Send them a message saying you're ready for your pat down; they reply "Grope...grope..grope. Okay you're free to go.".

And if you say, "No, you can't touch me there", they forward your call to a law enforcement agency after informing you that once a call is commenced, it must be completed.

We'll never get rid of them. Not in my lifetime.

4-5 lanes? more like 1-2 lanes.

Also, many airports are understaffed. I keep having to go in on my day off because they need more people, but won't hire more.

From my observations of TSA employees standing around doing nothing I say it is a matter of poor usage of available manpower, not a lack of people.

I'd go with "The TSA is infinitely overstaffed. They all need to be fired."

Now, now, boggie dog, don't you know they're analyzing people? They're studying them. They're observing them. They're practicing their BDO voodoo on them. They are looking for signs of malintent. We need them!

Speaking of malintent, you guys will love this. Look at where some of my posts are being reprinted. Oh, the irony!

I'm sure there's a bunch of rocks that need to be broken somewhere where the relentless sun is beating down in the middle of high humidity....

Exactly. They're always grouped up talking or texting their latest dirty deeds or something.
They're useless and everyone who travels has known that for years. Personally, I think it should be a criminal offense to work for TSA in any capacity.
