sounds like our policy is to handle the bad warlords by starving their people. If they all perish, that's one way to end the problem. Like the Ukraine under Stalin in the 1930's.

I do have to point out the irony here -- this is a news source, IPS, that my lefty friends and I read all the time. Meaning even those who self-identify as socialist. Yet here is Elizabeth posting a story from this site! Well, politics, strange bedfellows, and all that.

Just as ironic as the fact that I posted comments on that TSA article at the Daily Caller, the site that lobbied to get me fired for my Big Scary Radical Occupy activities last fall. (They succeeded in only one case; I still have my other gigs.) For a couple of hours on Friday, my comment there was "Most Popular," meaning that it had the most eyeballs at a given time. I'm sure conservative heads all over the blogosphere were exploding. :)

The problem with left-wing sources (just as with right-wing sources) is that you have to learn to read between the lines and separate the chaff from the substance. I find left-wing sources very useful for putting the finger on human rights abuses.

Even the Daily Kos has matured substantially from the bunch of total left-wing flakes that it was eight years ago. You can now find a lot of well-reasoned, substantive posting in there (in addition to the chaff, of course :) ).
