So weird: GRIME WAVE It’s a dirty job: Police nationwide take on soaring Tide detergent theft I'm not the most meticulous laundry person, but I find that clothes get more or less clean no matter which detergent I use. Is there really a legion of blackmarket consumers who feel that their laundry will just not work out unless they use Tide? I know they're using it for trade, but still. Doesn't there ultimately have to be somebody who wants the item being traded? Is it really just because it's bright orange? Why this, and not some garishly colored brand of dish soap? This is fascinating. I have so many questions.
This is serious!!! We need to restrict the purchases of Tide to an amount sufficient for 2 loads daily, require & record IDs of all purchases, and prosecute those who acquire excessive Tidings.
And I thought I'd seen it all. There's got to be more to this. Can it be sniffed or processed or used to cut drugs? It cannot be the Dutch tulip bulb frenzy redux, can it?
That's the first thing I thought of -- the drug-cutting possibility. Who knows? I'm not up on drug-cutting thingies.
Did the thefts go up after Nascar demonstrated the usefulness of Tide on cleaning up race tracks like they did at Daytona?
Ahhhemmmm! Let's not give the Goobers in the goobermint any (what they would call brilliant) ideas, shall we?
Me neither, but it seems Tide has brand recognition and value on the black market. I just don't get going to the trouble of lifting heavy, bright orange jugs, out of stores to make ~ $5 to $10. It would seem to me that there would be smaller things to steal that would have similar value.
