Two columns, both providing a kind of round-up of TSA moronic-ness (moronicity? moronomania?), power plays, and abuse, including the harassing and groping of a 3-year-old disabled child with a feeding tube.

    James Fallows:

    Steve Clemons:
Clemons also references Philip Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment, which I've been invoking till I'm blue in the face.

As for Pistole walking through incognito -- dream on.

yeah, but he lost me here:

All of this stuff started well into Obama's watch. He's to be considered as pushing this stuff onto the American people. He could stop this immediately, if he could find time in his busy vacation schedule to do so.

Ugh. I confess I'd missed that. What a lame statement. Not to mention false. Contrary to all the (expletive deleted) about second-termers being better because they're unfettered by re-election concerns, they're usually worse in their second terms because there's nothing to lose, they have even more unlimited power, they do whatever the (expletive deleted) they want.

This is an appeal to any self-described liberals who are reading this forum but not commenting: quit deluding yourselves. It's embarrassing. You are being no better than the rightwing you love to deride. If you believe Obama is "different," is "better," has your "best interests" at heart, shares your "values," you are deluding yourselves. Live in the evidence-based world you keep accusing others of not living in. Admit the truth. Quit making excuses for this man's actions. I'm far left of most (all?) of you reading this, and I'm not afraid to speak the truth: Obama is a disaster.

What, are you suggesting that "Change, Change you Can Believe In" was just an empty promise? Oh how dare you!!

Conor Friedersdorf's Atlantic blog where he criticizes fellow Fallows for exactly that wishful thinking in the passage Nachnebel cites, in "President Obama and the Spread of Security Theater":

I was happy with most if the article but he lost me as well with the Obama re-election strategy. Huh?!

Apparently, he forgets that it was Obama who gave teh go ahead to this garbage in 2010. Certainly not the transparent government and change that I was hoping for.

But he delivered on his promise with change we can believe it. When you feel that pervert's hand in your crotch, surely you believe it's really there?

It's bad when a Tennessee Senator has to threaten a university with loss of state funds if they don't remove the Obama Dissapoint-mints from the store shelves.

Worse. The wording that Obama claims to be upset about is wording DEMANDED BY HIS ADMINISTRATION before he'd sign it:
