John Mica Attacks TSA 'Chat-Downs' As 'Idiotic,' Says Screening Failures Are 'Off The Charts'

Not sure I like the idea of private companies handling screening "With government supervision." Would rather see it completely re-privatized w/the government G'ing TFO.

Even so, as long as the private companies either refuse to, or (preferably) are forbidden to, hire former TSA TSClerks to perform screening, it's better than what's in place now.

 

I wouldn't mind if all screening was handed back to private contractors, with oversight by the FAA.


"The failure rate (for imaging equipment) is classified but it would absolutely knock your socks off," Mica told reporters. The number of times TSA pat-downs failed to detect contraband is also secret but, according to the chairman, is "off the charts."

Surprise! Didn't a TSA employee last year try to tell me that the Scope 'N Gropes would address the Red Team failure rates?

 

Is that the same TSA employee who told you genitals are never touched during a grope-down? Or that the TSA never conducts strip-searches?

On the one hand, I can't imagine what colossal stupidity it would take to make a mistake like that twice. On the other hand...it's the goddamn TSA.
