Ignoring Pistole's email is the strongest possible rejection we can make. Responding to the words of a pathological liar makes us appear weak and foolish. No one in their right mind wastes time and energy engaging in dialog with a pathological liar.

If we respond at all it should be with a petition asking the White House not to spam us. That's what an email from a pathological liar is: spam. We get 'em all the time from people trying to cheat us. There should be a difference in quality and value between an email from the federal government and a come-on from a scam artist.

We will have to agree to disagree, Elizabeth.

In principle I agree with you. If we had a slam-dunk means of being heard far and wide as we ask "When will the White House respond to our demands to abolish TSA" after Pissy - excuse me, Reichskommissar John S. Pistole the goose-stepping thug-lord - has already sent his response, that would be a terrific way to send the message.

The problem is twofold. First, with a largely apathetic or complicit mass media, we don't have a surefire way of getting that message to spread like wildfire. Secondly, the masses often don't think in terms of principle. Their response to our response to the government's response (oh, no, I've gone cross-eyed) will be "Dur, they already sent an answer. Stoopid peeple can't read their E-mail and see that TSA is importunt fer our safey. ...Safe...safety...ness. ...Hey, Survivor's on!"

To us, it's a rejection and a demand born of moral outrage to give us a better answer. To most, though, it'll look like obliviousness or ignorance. In short, the problem isn't us, it's the people we're trying to convince. We have to face up to and address that problem. As much as I'd love to do what you're suggesting, I fear it backfiring on us and I'd rather not have that happen now that we are starting to see a public shift in opinion against TSA.

Maybe a good way to go would be to have a pow-wow here where we pick apart the E-mail, lay out all the lies, and put together an official TUG response/press release to shoot it down.

Well, I'd say that would be true had we -- and millions of Americans -- not already responded to him, numerous times, and shown him to be a liar.

Personally, I always thought the White House petition site was (expletive deleted). A feel-good measure to make people believe they have a voice, and that POTUS listens to that voice. Inveterate TSA opponent that I am, I never signed that petition. Or any other petition at the White House dot-gov site. (I've signed plenty of other petitions, and written plenty of letters, made plenty of phone calls, written and talked publicly about this, etc.; I just think that site is a PR ploy.)

The Pistole response proves the White House petition site IS (expletive deleted)!

Since the TSA wrote an insulting and breathtakingly inadequate response to our petition, it's time for a new one that demands White House action to stop the abuse of innocent people.

I'd sign if I believed the White House gave a (expletive deleted). But I don't. It is, however, a handy way to collect the email and other addresses of dissenters.

I'd like to sign. I've "signed in" 4 times to no avail. The site doesn't respond to my efforts to sign in. No "invalid user name", "invalid Email", "invalid Password", just no reaction, nada, nuthin', zip.

I don't have time to deal with it right now. Too busy.

Can Petitions be combined - this one with the one CW referred to in the other thread?

Pistole, through his statements, shows that he thinks it appropriate to ignore the issues and even flat out lie to the public and Congress. To some extent, some people buy this. I do not and will not. He fits, to a T, the definition of a bureacrat. There are other descriptors as well for him, but mostly inappropriate for this board.

The only "petition" that might do any good is the one that will occur next November.

I just tried logging in to case my vote and got a 404 after entering my user info. Have they taken this one down already?

There's a problem with that. While I see the need to dismiss John Pistole (and possibly incarcerate him) I do not see the need to replace him.

The entire agency needs to be dissolved at every level, from Big Sis at the top to the liars, thieves, rapists, and thugs actually "working" at the checkpoints. ALL of them need to go.

I think this is a fantastic idea.

I'm happy to help, if you think it's appropriate.
