Government Security News: TSA finds IED training device, ninja ‘debrainer’ device in airport luggage

How is this "notable"? If you look at the photo (bottom left) at Propaganda Village, it's clearly labeled as to what it is. Perhaps it's notable that at least one clerk at SEA can read?

Would they have figured it out without the labeling?

Was it "voluntarily surrendered" (it would seem so, since they kept a picture of it), thereby depriving people at his destination, which might well include those who respond to issues at TSA checkpoints, of their intended training?

There's nothing "notable" about this, Bobbie. Your agency just can't do anything without screwing up.

Thanks for the heads up. If I ever need a "debrainer" (top left of photo) at my destination, I'll just pack a claw hammer.

    Big catch, not!

Here's more info about & a better picture of the "debrainer" ...

ABC 2 News (26 Mar 2012): Dangerous weapon seized at BWI

According to this article (wasn't clear from the earlier ones), this was in a carryon, not in a checked bag.

  4. I'm annoyed at people when I see these "good catch" line ups. Couldn't you just put your debrainer in your checked bag, man? Now you gave the TSA more PR ammo. The training IED thingie I understand -- he probably thought it was better to take it through the checkpoint and try to explain that it wasn't real, rather than have it found in his checked bag and have a bigger PIA to deal with.

    My first thoughts exactly.

    I doubt it.

The 'debrainer' isn't nearly as fun as I was imagining it to be. Here I was thinking it was some kind of zombie implement. Clearly I watch way too many horror films. :)
