If you suck up to your smurf, you might make into the Pre-Check line .... New York Times: T.S.A. Experiments With Behavior Screening Now, the agency is testing a new behavior detection program where officers use on-the-spot observations and conversations with passengers to select some for the quicker pass through the checkpoint. The program, which the T.S.A. calls “managed inclusion,” is being tested at airports in Indianapolis and Tampa, Fla. If the tests are successful, the agency plans to expand the program to more airports this year. The idea is to selectively identify certain passengers who appear to pose no threat and invite them to use lanes dedicated to the PreCheck program that the agency began in October 2011.
So, bearing in mind that US-style behaviour detection is pure (expletive deleted), and the fact that this is currently adding another kind of rights/privacy violation atop scope-n-grope... ...Is anyone else getting a slight hint of TSA trying to save face whilst responding to public and/or Congressional pressure? We know Pistole is perhaps the single most arrogant lifeform on the face of the planet (how he manages that without a brain still baffles me) and so TSA would never just do an about-face and say "Back to pre-9/11 screening now!" because to do so would be to admit they were wrong. By introducing this and trumpeting it as the success of their BDO voodoo, they open the door to slowly ramp this up, slowly phase out the NoS as they're taken offline for "maintenance" and conveniently not replaced, and eventually bring public outcry down to a manageable level by...well, not doing the things that are pissing most people off. It's certainly a departure from "American social norms are just going to have to change to accommodate this, because scope-n-grope is here to stay."
Isn't the whole point of the entire TSA charade that people who "appear to pose no threat" may in fact have a razor blade hidden in their waistband or whatever?
Or their insulin pumps could be a tactical nuclear weapons! God only knows what Granny might be packing in her Depends.
As we all know, the TSA is paranoid about being accused of slowing down security and causing people to miss their flights. So, rather than just open up the WTMDs, which we all exposed as the tactic during National Opt Out Day, they invented this official-sounding bovine fertilizer that does exactly the same thing.
The most disturbing thing about this is that terrorists will almost certainly suck up to TSA scum. Citizens with too much integrity to ever consider terrorism will view BDO scum to be human cockroaches. It's pretty obvious that this program serves as a detriment to genuine security. It's true purpose is to lull the sheople into accepting less and less liberty with each passing day.
The more random and unpredictable the duties of the job description, the more difficult it becomes to fire them for incompetence. This is one of the biggest frauds ever to be perpetrated on the American taxpayer.
I've said this many times and mean it more each time: TSA has done more to limit my freedoms and taken away my rights than any 'bigbad wolf/"terrorist."'
I have a letter in tomorrow's Times referencing the originally linked piece. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/21/opinion/airport-behavior-screening.html
http://www2.tbo.com/news/travel/201...y-checks-at-tampa-international-mi-ar-625804/ Whaddaya know? Managed Inclusion was a rousing success at Tampa and will now be expanded nationwide. TSA mind-readers and dogs successfully identified passengers who were not hiding bombs in their shoes. Who would have seen that coming?
Watch the short video with the article. At the 7-second mark, you hear the following: “Do you see how passengers are going to the left? They've been IN-cluded.” It’s like The Price is Right! “JONES/BOB MR come on down! You’re the next passenger to be in-cluded in TSA Security Theatre!”
