    I strongly agree with the highlighted statement. I can't honestly equate the two.

    On the other hand, the cop who solicits an act of prostitution while on duty seems to be universally condemned, even while the rationale for condemnation varies.

    I must say that any police officer who requests that a citizen break the law puts that citizen in a very vulnerable position. Can the citizen afford to risk denying the cop? The officer's position of authority removes the possibility of mutual consent from the interaction.

    The TSA's “Assistant Federal Security Director” at Miami’s airport is an ex-cop named Juan Garcia who quit before the force could fire him. Why? Because he solicited a “prostitute” who turned out to be one of his colleagues undercover (hmmm…literally, I guess).
    Upon resigning, Juan the John joined the Thieves and Sexual Assailants. Is anyone surprised that they hired him? Or that Johnnie continues to mooch off our taxes there ten years later? Miami New Times has the sordid details.
