Reports from travelers indicate that TSA BDO's are asking very personal questions. It would be my suggestion to tell them to FO.

I wish more of those passengers would post their experiences publicly, like here at TUG, for example.

I agree -- there's not much information out there on this. I personally have never encountered it (or, perhaps the BDOs are so good I did not realize I was being questioned).

"Am I required to answer that?"

Repeat until you receive an answer. If the answer is affirmative: "Under what authority am I required to answer that?"

If they manage to answer that one: "Please show me where in the CFR that is is mandated."

Most folks will just knuckle under and play along. That's the problem with this BS. TSA gets to make the rules and the average pax is too timid or too pressed to make a flight to fight back.

"My" BDO didn't need to ask any questions. He just looked me up and down...

I think that glaring them down with the "Mom-Look" should suffice to let them know how you feel about their interrogation. If I ever fly again and a Blue-shirted Dumb-(expletive deleted) Orangutang wants to give me the third degree, I have my speech prepared:

"I'm terribly sorry, but I only discuss my travel plans and personal information with those who have a legitimate need to know, such as my immediate family and my employer. I will tell you the three things that you do need to know about me:
#1. I am a citizen of the United States of America.
#2. I am travelling within the continental borders of the United States of America.
#3. I have a God-given, inherent, inalienable RIGHT as a citized of the United States of America to do so.
Are you going to detain me further, or may I be on my way through the Security Theatre that you call a Checkpoint?"

Good luck. That will probably get you a retaliatory grope. (Though I am all in favor of any and all forms of resistance, so more power to you.)

Just tell them you only discuss personal matters with trustworthy people and you aren't one of them.

Since I will be opting out of the NoS, I figure I'd be getting a retaliatory grope anyway, so what's the diffo! Might as well get my viewpoint heard. Might want to tell the BDO to pass that little viewpoint all the way up the management chain-of-command (all the way to John *(expletive deleted)* Pistole, preferrably)!!

Or have caradoc live on your cell phone (speaker on, volume up) as you approach the checkpoint. I'm sure he'll say a few words on your behalf. :D

I would say the clerk has no need to know #1.

#3 is all they need to know.
