This time the "media" is portraying their sweet lil' innocent screeners in a bad light:

    Quoted:

{"TSA cannot legally arrest or detain power under powers granted to it by the federal government; in order to make arrests, TSA workers must call local police situated in the airport.
TSA workers' inability to detain or arrest people also hinders their ability to protect airlines in general. “My job is to stand in the exit doors that passengers from arriving flights are leaving. I am supposed to stop people from entering the airport through those doors, but if somebody tries to run through those doors, all I can do is yell at them to stop and call the police,” said one TSA employee who wished to remain anonymous for fear of losing her job.}"

They want the power to detain & arrest. Next, they'll be wanting to carry guns. Before we know it, someones 90 year old grandma will be shot & killed.

What "procedures?" The TSA schmucks just make up whatever they think they can get away with. And "obscenities" are the least of what should be hurled at them.

The best thing to hurl at TSA smurf-clerks are pink slips.

Lots and lots of pink slips.

Can we let someone use the pink slips as toilet paper first, then hurl them?

The TSA union is trying to do some power building for screeners and this may fit with plans of Pistole to get LEO status for TSA screeners. I wonder how many current screeners would be disqualified as LEO's? Surely some kind of qualifications would be created.

I didn't think TSA could get any worse than it already is but giving these TSA idiots a gun would certainly change the game.

Karma is such a bitch. These knuckledraggers -- with due apologies to Neanderthals -- just aren't capable of understanding that they are the source of their own angst.

Let them, the backlash will get even louder, and more & more people will quit flying as we have quit flying.

It's not just the airport where they will carry a gun and their cereal box badges....and I can see them abusing all this when 'off duty' too.

Once again, our 'reporters' prove they don't know the first thing about journalism.

When the unions (or individual TSAs) make these claims, why aren't they asked to provide specific instances? Names/dates/times/places, action taken - ie, "I reported to my manager that a pax threw a bag at me, and he/she took no action" or "I reported to my manager that a pax screamed at me and threatened me and my manager took no action" - followed by a request to TSA/FSD at the relevant airport to review tapes to verify the TSO's account and to determine why no action was taken against the unruly pax.

If the media asked for verifiable supporting docs/videos every time this kind of allegation was made, we wouldn't see so much of it. GRRR!

No, much easier to just arm all TSOs with a taser, yeah. Are Nappy and Pistole looking ahead to their post-election 'bonuses'? Got investments in taser companies?

Ability to fog a mirror. And they're allowed three tries.

If they fail after three tries, do they get 'retrained'?

I'd like to see the lot of them forced to register as sex offenders but that darn "bill of attainder" thing in the Constitution gets in the way...

I hope so. But I have my doubts. I can see lots of security cheerleaders being on board with it. After all, "The Terrorists! The Terrorists! 9/11! 9/11!"

...until they're personally Tasered by a blue-shirted d-bag for sneezing at the wrong moment.

I know. That's the problem. That's what it would take to get through to their thick skulls. They're perfectly fine with it as long as it's happening to The Other.

Which is why I take great joy in saying "I told you so," to former supporters of the TSA.

“A lot of people take this job very seriously—any bag I open could be my last,” said Heydrich Thomas, a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) baggage screener who works at New York City's JFK airport and is also local union leader.

So they don't run the bags through the x-ray first to get a clue-they just open every bag willy-nilly?!
    Mmmmm-kay.

How many bags has the TSA inspected since the start and how many screeners have died due opening a bag?
Every time I open my front door a stampede of elephants could overcome me, the chance isn't zero, it may have happened to someone since the dawn of man but, BUT!! The statics don't frighten whizz out of me.

Oh, please do go over and post that comment at TSA News. It's so yummy, and it's entirely relevant.
