I'm not saying this story isn't true but seems I read something about this several months ago.

She won a default judgment about a year ago when the attorney handling the city's legal affairs didn't bother to respond. The city was going to try to weasel out of it after they had a new attorney on board, but I never heard the results of that.

It's an old story that might still be ongoing.

Plenty of updates here from Murtha & Murtha:
Murtha & Murtha just do their blog for publicity -- used to call it the Long Island Lawyer Blog but recently reorganized into their own firm's web site.

Nancy Genovese is represented by Frederick K. Brewington, a very well-known, high-profile civil rights attorney in the area. The case is Genovese v. Town of Southampton et al.

The default judgment was denied. It appears to be headed to trial.

my $0.02: the defense team for the city extracts the last nickel they can during their investigation and discovery and depositions, then advises the city to settle. I can't see this ever going to trial if the defense is competent, and if the facts are close to what was reported.

What happened to Nancy Genovese is an old story. I forget how bad it really is a few months after my last reading, give it another read and find myself nauseous before I can get through the entire tale.

It's verified throughout. It's not just a "story." The most shocking details are verified.

More than any other incident, this one convinces me that the "War on Terror" is just a ruse to destroy every vestige of citizens' rights.

We must stand firm against the fascists.
