Do you think the TSA put O'Toole up to the "victim impact" statement? It takes real balls to ask the judge to redirect the defense fund money but at least she (the judge) did the right thing. It was about the only right thing she did.

BTW, why did she plead out and not have a jury trial?

Should have hung in for the jury, at least there would have been a chance of acquittal. These judges have uniformly lined up and bent over for TSA no matter what the issue or circumstance.

At least the comments on the article were uniformly critical of TSA and the judge.

I think we'd have to ask Yukari Miyamae that. But again, as I keep saying, lawsuits are time-consuming and expensive. Most people can't afford to pursue them. We have to quit touting lawsuits as some kind of panacea. They aren't. They are a huge drain on a person's life.

But this wasn't a lawsuit. This was a criminal prosecution, and now she has an arrest and criminal record that will make her life difficult.

I don't know. Maybe her lawyer told her she didn't have a leg to stand on. Maybe she didn't have time in her life for a trial. Who knows what her personal and financial circumstances are?
