If that happens, this country is even more far gone than I could ever have imagined.

    Lotsa luck, Chuck.

Nappy has all the personality of a garbage truck (which is an insult to garbage trucks). One thing that cannot be contested is that Obama, love him or hate him, has enormous charisma that helped carry him through two elections. Most Presidents seem to have at least some force of personality. GWB had his fake-Texan schtick, Clinton was a lovable buffoon, Bush Sr. was elected when I was still quite young so I don't have much personal experience beyond that, but it seems that more often than not, a POTUS is someone the people feel they can rally behind.

That is NOT the impression I get of Janet Napolitano. Not at all. Have we ever even seen this person smile? I'm guessing it looks something like this:
All I'm used to seeing from her are beady-eyed Bond-villain stares. People generally don't like to elect leaders who look at them like hungry sharks.

Best we could hope for is that she goes on vacations twice as often as the Obamanations.

I wonder who Nappy would choose as a running mate. Perhaps "Pat?"

Oh (expletive deleted) No. No Nappy, Hillary or obummer.

Although at the going rate Nappy may be getting her walking papers (and DHS defunded hopefully(wishful I know but still)) if a couple of senators have there way for refusing to answer questions from congress.

    I've seen Janet Napolitano smile.

Personally, I find the context of that smile interesting. (Why is it that the very politicians who want to deprive us of our gun rights are the same people who clearly understand and appreciate firearms themselves? We can't claim they "don't get it," they clearly do. They know full well the value of the rights they're trying to eviscerate.)

I can't really condemn her appearance. I'm not big on demanding people be pretty. I've voted for candidates who were significantly less attractive physically than the poster-boy front runners. Why do you have to be cute to win a major office these days?

My objection to Ms Napolitano is that she is an enemy of the U.S. Constitution and our Bill of Rights. I would never vote for her, and if she runs I will actively campaign against her.

Under Napolitano's watch the DHS has gotten much, much worse than it was before. It was pretty bad before, so for her to actually make things worse was quite a feat.

    I have reconsidered.

I want Nappy to run and be picked to be the Democratic Party nominee for President.

Would make the Republican pick a shoe in.

I agree. My emphasis on the smile was less one of outward appearance and more one of what the smile represents - approachability, positivity, the mind centering on good, hopeful, beneficial things. All the pictures I've seen of Napolitano have her looking far more like she's scheming than like she's in the mood to lead a nation.

We can easily do to we what we did to Janet Reno when she tried to run for office.

Beauty is as beauty does. What's she has done to this country is beyond ugly. She has unleashed official oppression on the American people through the strip searches and sexual contact she has allowed and supported during her time as head of DHS.

I wasn't talking about her physical appearance, but the ambiguity of her nature. As the phrase goes, "Beauty is only skin deep. Ugly goes all the way through the soul."

(And that's assuming that Nappy even has one. Ghu knows her cohorts in DHS and TSA haven't shown any evidence at all of having souls...)

  17. For me it's not about physical beauty in the traditional sense, but it is about presence, and presentation of self. That, I think, does matter in a candidate, or a leader, or even someone making coffee at Starbucks. Hers is very ugly, but I've always found Obama's presence rather ugly too, even back when all the girls were swooning and having sex dreams about him.

Condoleeza Rice and Hillary Clinton are, IMO, examples of physically non-beautiful women who have powerful and impressive presence, worthy of positions of leadership (however much I may disagree with their policies).

Not really on my reading list. I have enough trouble with the local Dallas paper and all of the BS coming out of DC, especially those regulations having an impact of the banking system.
