School of Americas gets a bad rap for all the wrong reasons. It did not specifically train people how to torture nor did it condone those practices. However, in the complex nature of not interfering with internal policies of other nations, we ended up doing exactly that. This distinction may not make a difference to many people; I don't expect novices to understand this. I see it as complexities that arise whenever we try to support the lesser of two evils. Evil is still evil even if it's not as bad as another. But the reality in the fickle world of politics is that you have choose your friends and accept all the dirty laundry that comes with the territory.
