I have noticed that new postings don't always show up in the What's New? category.
Is it just me?
Do you mean 'alerts'? I don't think I've ever noticed a 'what's new' category. Goes to look.....
I love "What's New." It's always the first thing I click on. That way I can see everything that's been posted since last time I checked. And it eliminates need for alerts or emails.
I'm not sure you are actually seeing everything new. I go back to the home page and can find new posts that didn't migrate to What's New.
That confused me too. The subhead is "New Threads"--so it's only entirely new threads, not new posts.
The most recent post will bring the thread to the top of the topical Forum's list. The ones with new posts I haven't seen are bulleted.
When I click "What's New" it brings up new posts even on old threads.
I think what you state is what should happen but many times I can find items on the home page that did not move to What's New.
"What's New" is constructed for each user based on what posts you have already viewed.
"Recent Threads " is all threads sorted by most recent message (response).
I don't use either. I just scroll now the main index looking for indicators that a specific forum contains unread posts.
