    Seriously?

Instead of gee-whiz technology peddled by special interest lobbyists, how about common sense screening that everybody goes through?

The credulousness of that NYT article is obnoxious:
No, NYT, it hasn't (expletive deleted) "trained"anybody. Your sentence should read: "The TSA, for example, claims it has trained . . . ."
So fed up with the cheerleading cretins in this country.

And I can't comment anymore at the NYT, have no idea why. But for weeks now, no matter the article, I always get an error message and "try again later." Later never works either.

What I tried to post this time:

Having been through Israeli security and seen it first hand, your post is very accurate.

One thing that was kind of funny about my experience though -- my s.o. is Jewish, and the time we went there he had a cousin who was living there. When we were going through the airport security, the security guy asked my s.o. if he had any relatives in Israel. S.O. said 'yes', the guy asked if we went to see them, S.O. said 'no', and the guy was (or acted) incredulous. My s.o. felt compelled to tell him that we were only there for a short period of time, business trip and all, and that we really aren't horrible people who don't visit our relatives. :)

I had a similar problem. I tried my user name and it gave me an error message. I switched to my email address and tried again with the same result. But when I tried the third time it said I had already said that and my comment was added.

Apparently NYT has some real junk software. I recall Susan Stellin saying that they were having trouble adding links because of wrap problems in their software.

The Times has, I believe, recently changed whatever program allows comments and, like the TSA and transiting checkpoints, the change has only made commenting more difficult.
