Can somebody please 'splain what good it does to scramble F-16's for bomb threat aboard an aircraft? Are they going to shoot it down before it explodes?

Radar and transponders will track the aircraft.

Associated Press: No bomb found aboard LA-to-Texas Southwest flight

No explosives were found on a Southwest Airlines plane that was diverted to Phoenix with 143 passengers on board, authorities said. The FBI said Monday that an afternoon flight from Los Angeles to Austin, Texas, landed in Phoenix after someone called in a bomb threat.

    F-16s were scrambled ...

I had the same thoughts. Launch a couple of F-16's that cost several thousand dollars an hour to fly all for no good reason. All these guys could do is say "yep, it blew up, bodies falling everywhere." I'm sure the pilots are all for getting the stick time but WE are paying for this crap.

Observation: TSA hates to "work" with other agencies, because they actually have to pretend they're doing something constructive.

That's a great headline. "Something that never happens didn't happen!"

WHAT... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Yeah that setup was too easy for a TSA analogy. I should be ashamed of gorging on low-hanging fruit.

You could have gone with something like, "BRING... the COMFY CHAIR!" "Terribly sorry, Cardinal Fang - can't bring it." "Why the bloody (expletive deleted) NOT?" "Well, see, there's a TSA employee sleeping in it..."

Yeah, but that didn't fit the "4 questions" quote and dimwitted stupidity thereof quite as well... ;)

    Neither did your initial, really:

"He who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three ere the other side he see."

Well, you know, TSA likes to call everything they do ENHANCED... so... ;)
