Yeah I know this is a Police Abuse thread but with the Texas DPS trooper who assaulted two women in the news I saw this story and thought it deserved a mention.

We all tend to focus on negative news but stories like this never make the light of day. This officer didn't expect nor asked for any recognition. Just a guy doing his job.

Great. In Texas, they'll either wrap your ticket in a $100 bill or stick their fingers up your anus on a routine traffic stop. The pervert copette Harrelson did what she did as if she were trained to do it and had done this many, many times. It was a routine to her. That tells me that this cavity searching was absolutely not a "one-off".

But, on the outside chance that others in Texas law enforcement don't cavity search and abhor it, let them speak up. right now, only a resounding silence from all of them.

There was an NYPD officer (caught on video :) by a bystander) who bought a pair of boots for a homeless man.

There was another similar example not too long ago.

Nice police officer = one who will do (legal) things to assist people in need
Good police officer = nice police officer + will cross the blue line when abusive police officers are plying their trade

Unfortunately the "good" ones are all too rare.

I think the story on the NYPD officer made national news so didn't feel a need to repeat that story. He did a good thing for a person who showed back up on the streets a couple of days later without shoes.

Don't forget the sheriffs deputy in ALB that told the airport PR guy to basically pound sand when people were handing out Nude-O-Scope flyers. ;)^

nachtnebel - Plano has some very good officers and is one of the better departments in the area; Same for the Fire Department.

Now State Troopers / DPS is a different story most troopers would give there own mother a ticket. I dont have a very good impression of State Troopers and I tend to think this pattern of behavior is close to the norm as seen in this incident. Where I will defend most local officers, troopers on the other hand I will throw under the bus wholesale and not think twice due to past events.
