The Espionage Act is incredibly dangerous. Thousands of people were rounded up and jailed for speaking out against WWI. Others were beaten in the streets. Eugene Debs and Emma Goldman are only the most famous. This happened in this country. It's historical fact, not dystopian fantasy. Yet how many Americans know this? Or care?
We're marching down that same path now, but millions of people just utter a collective, "Meh."
