    Headlines from Drudge ...

    • Watch lifestyles, attitudes and behaviors...
    • Odd working hours, unexplained travel...
    • Monitor co-workers stress, divorce, financial problems...
    • Track online activities...

The article indicate that the "markers" they're being told to look for have never been proven to be related to leakers. They're just giving every federal employee a license to harass and investigate "odd" coworkers.

This country is really going down a rat hole.

But I read that the army didn't implement it as described -- they can't afford to have good soldiers harassed out of the service based on rumors & unfounded assumptions.

If I didn't live here, I'd find this somewhat funny.

I'm fairly certain I got swept up out in this. Reassuring, in a way, that it is a national witch-hunt--not to take it overly personally.
What is especially insidious is the fear and conformity it drives into the ranks. It is an easy cover for getting rid of anyone perceived as not toeing the line. 'Yes-men only need apply.' So much for the No Fear Act.

I'd much rather they all waste their time spying on each other than on the rest of us... but I'd also rather they not be spying at all.

We tell our kids we're "better" than those oppressive regimes like Stalin and Mao, but we're doing it, too.
