Interesting piece at CNN.com today regarding 4th of July weekend travel. According to AAA, travel will be down 2.5% this year due to higher fuel, though average prices have dropped recently. Interestingly, they note this statistic: Now, I have nothing to compare it to, but it seems to me that if that many people are driving instead of flying in spite of high fuel prices there most be some reason for it. I don't know what it could be, though...
Even my 80 year old father and 76 year old mother refuse to fly because they "get it" - no scopes or gropes for them. In fact my mom recently had to fly to a funeral and she gave TSA an earful...of course with a little "coaching" from me.
I have no clue either. This weekend we will be driving from Minneapolis to St. Louis for the 11th time since my wife's Nov. 1 grope. That's 22 round-trip air fares not purchased. We will also be driving to the Black Hills & Denver in late July -- our first vacation road trip since 2003.
