This is a great additon to the 9/11 nostalgia fervor. Unfortunately, it's not being picked up by American newspapers -- I've found it only in a couple British & Irish papers.

UK Telegraph: Paul Theroux - 9/11 ten years on

    On DHS:

    On TSA:

    On TSOs specifically:

Can also be read in the Dublin Independent.

Another good 9/11 nostalgia piece this is scarely being picked up by other media outlets. It originated with a Chicago Tribune reporter.

KWCH: Aviation security hassles, weaknesses persist: Critics complain screenings inconvenient, ineffective; TSA says it's moving toward risked-based system

On the other hand, AGITPROP's rah-rah pieces are being replicated all over the place. :(

Mike, the Tribune story is being reprinted in all the Trib newspapers -- which are god knows how many, since the Tribune has bought up so many once-independent papers. I commented at that story when it appeared in the Chicago paper, also in Baltimore. The Theroux piece is, as usual, with him, great.

Yes, so far (Weds late afternoon) the Theroux piece is the best I've seen of the genre. I'm fermenting an omnibus post for my blog for tomorrow or Friday.
