The stuff I used to consider to be the ravings of paranoid, tin-foil-hat-wearing lunatics is now totally credible. Scope n' Grope has made it possible to consider no assault on the Constitution too egregious for the Federal Government to commit. Scope n' Grope has made the worst seem probable.

It's all very creepy, and more than a little depressing.

Screw the tin foil, you need to get one of my high-quality aluminum hats.

RFID, GPS, cell-phones-- all being used to gather information already. I guess what seemed most newsworthy was the express role of the TSA. So they are the official domestic spying arm of the Federal Government? No need to update any post-Church Committee rules for the FBI per Patriot Act, just use the TSA.
I wondered who drove by and took photos of me from a back of a car on Telegraph Hill when I was last in SF ('cause of earlier concern about my dear's last deployment? Rocking the boat in the land where Gavin was king? Taxes? Other complaints?), or if simple mob-like local issues were involved. Seems so low-tech.

Perhaps moving to another country will be in my future plans?

The slogan was right all this time.

It really is better in The Bahamas.

Oh! My mistake. I thought we declared war on freedom, invaded person liberties, and attacked common sense. Tell me, when we declared war on drugs did we start bar coding each other?

This is sounding like a national ID card that must be on your person at all times.

I can disable all of that easily enough, but if someone really wants to keep tabs on where I am and what I'm doing, all they need is access to my credit card and loyalty program activity. All in the name of keeping me safe, national security, War On Terror, etc.
